Michael Banks - Art on Tar
An excellent collection of Michael Banks’ work is available from Nancy's Yorktown Gallery. Michael Banks stunning work was first discovered by Nancy in May last year and by September, she held a spectacular, very successful show featuring Michael Banks exclusively.

Michael Banks grew up in a housing project in north Alabama, and after struggling with his mother’s death. Michael developed his signature style of painting, with powerful, significant images and extraordinary use of color.

He uses what might be called the Michael Banks technique, covering plywood with roofing tar and bright enamels and acrylics, and then uses tools to incise the outlines of the image.

I am a native of "the county". Growing up I was inspired by Hunters ambition to work on her art in NY. I now have a 14 year old daughter named Hunter who is in gifted art. My son Cory placed 1st in a Gloucester art show this year. We visit your store and love spending time looking at whats new. I am lucky to receive a new print each year for my birthday and now I purchase alot of gifts for friends there as well. Thank you for your wonderful art.

I just love Nancy's work. As a native Virginian and now lucky enough to live in Williamsburg, I am inspired by her talent and just love shopping in both of her shops. Each is unique and I find I have to go around 2-3 times to really be sure I see everything.

I'd like to know if anyone could tell me if Nancy is a spiritual or religious person? Does she go to church or have a certain denominational affiliation? Her art is so deep in meaning that she must have a connection with a higher power.

Hi--I had an idea about the placques you make--I already have the calendar series, and for xmas, I have an additional "many Santas." I also would love that kind of placque for other seasons, for instance, for valentine's, many valentines, easter,many rabbits, 4th of july, many flags, etc, etc. It would be an additional decorating idea for me to have more Nancy Thomas. So, that is my suggestion, but whether or not it is acted upon, thank you for your wonderful work. I sure do like all my Nancy Thomas pieces. Thanks, Bradone
